Swiss rival Roche, which received FDA approval for its Covid-19 antibody test last month, said its devices could test 300 samples per hour and provide results in 18 minutes, depending on the model. The Siemens spin-off, which is majority owned by the German conglomerate, hopes its large network will give it an edge over competitors, especially in the US, where it has almost 7,000 analysis machines. However Mr Nath stopped short of forecasting that Covid-19 tests would be the biggest part of Healthineers’ diagnostics business in the future, because the role of antibody tests in the fight against the disease was “still being established”.
